Ooooh, awesome.

I can only think of how awesome this will be with vocals. I like the synths for the first part, works so well, and then segues quite nicely into Rammstein.

I don't think it's possible to not like Rammstein- your guitar work is awesome, along with those orchestral hits, you'll have to hit me up with those samples/ whatever you used for them.

In a word, awesome.

However, I think vocals will make it epic. I can't wait. :D

Lashmush responds:

You could make it epic... with your silky smooth hawt voice, good sir.

Chinese lyrics?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Are you still looking for a vocalist? I do speak Chinese.

I make no guarantees that it'll be any good though :D

Phyrnna responds:

You do? :D I'd love to have you try! :D

New. Very.

It might just be me, but the slow intro, I like it.

However. The middle register of the piano doesn't seem to fit quite as well with the rest of the intro, and when you speed up the beat to go with the synth intro, the piano also seems to be fighting to prevent the song's gaining energy.

It's a solid song, yes. It definitely incorporates ideas put to use in a way I have rarely seen. The mastering and mixing are without any problems, but I suppose the main problem is that the song doesn't know what it wants.

The trance elements speak to me of high energy and passion, while the piano exists in a world of quiet serenity.

Both battle, and unfortunately, it isn't one of those magical musical alchemies that blow you out of your seat. :(

Definitely a new feeling.

That main arp... good sound, not so good execution.

It's playing way too fast with that amount of delay/reverb on it, and muddies it right up. Perhaps consider dropping a bit of it?

Yes, the percussion was pretty good, but in all honesty, I had to try and notice it, wasn't particularly revolutionary up until around 1:40 where it took a MUCH more dominant vibe.

However. The most awesome thing in this song is your square synth. Epic awesome, definitely an interesting arrangement, caught my ear and kept me going. The panning on it is an awesome touch, definitely another awesome attention grabber.

Seriously, one of the best leads I've heard in a while, one of the most bold and original, definitely.

A McAwesomeBurger for you, sir. :D

nightsurfermusic responds:

Thanks a bunch. :) The Square took me a while to get it to sound nice, it was pretty raw before. I also like the percussion at 1:40 too, thats pretty awesome stuff from me. I havent done something that good in a long time!

Thanks for reviewing. :D

Awesome.

Let's start with the very few cons.

The piano, for one. Expertly arranged, and nicely melded with the horns, but they seem to be a bit dry. I'm not sure if it's a lack of reverb, or the fact that they seem to get lost a bit in the massive bass of this track, since the low piano keys sound mediocre at best

Now for the rest.

Definitely gives a suspenseful feeling, and the random(ish) sounds of metallic tapping and water droplets are a strange but effective touch for something so fast paced.

I worry for the day I can't hear all of your music for free.

But then again, I also wish for nothing less than you to get the recognition you deserve, and possibly make a career out of. :D

DavidOrr responds:

Thanks for your comments! I'm glad you mentioned the dryness of the piano- I mixed this mainly on headphones so I was afraid some of the balances weren't quite right! Ill go in and adjust that before the final release!

I really enjoyed the ranom(ish) noises. I decided that going the full percussion route, I wanted to replace some aux percussion with synths. I think it gives it a more metallic feel, an it certainly is an interesting one. I'll probably experiment more with synth add-ons to the orchestra.

I'll always offer stuff free to the community- I really think it's vital that both the critical and casual listener should be encouraged to listen to modern music. What better way to entice the prospective ears than hand it to them? What they do with it is up to them. That said, I DO need to make some sort of an income, so I'll have to do some paid work. But there will always be stuff available to everyone!

Thanks a lot for stopping by and leaving a review!

What can I say? In one word, epic.

This is brilliant. It makes me think of the first or final (or both) casting off of a massive ship.

One of the things that gives it its epic energy is the excellent staccato strings, keeps the song moving, even though the rest of the instruments suggest majestic, deliberate movement.

The tubular bells are placed perfectly to accent the song, and the percussion continues with the majestic exposition, with their awesome explosion at 0:22.

The horns, what can I say?

I just wish I could make something like this- I have so many abortions of projects it's just not funny.

Anyways, definitely McAwesome. And McEpic.

PGegen responds:

I find that most of my projects never go anywhere - most of the time I spend a few hours on it and then decide it sounds like crap and move on to something else.

I'm glad you liked the horns - the French horn is the greatest thing since sliced bread, so I try to use it as much as possible.

Thanks for the review!

It is demanded.

You shall provide.

Rave4Yourself responds:

My cat is a delicate soccer potatoes rule the sky in a box he's right there.

Heroic.

The memories this brings back of fun games on cartridges, and the mastering on this was flawless, nothing peaks, no frequency clashes, nothing out of true.

The drums were epic, breakdown with the pads and the gated synth worked excellently, what more can I say?

It's definitely worthy of a McAwesomeBurger award.

Bitching awesome.

That's what we are. Yeah.

Loltastic.

No more words need to be said.

In other news, I need to hijack RG and play some tracks from teh album. :D

Survive the impending zombie outbreak. Ask me how.
